The New Aston Martin Vanquish Volante (pictured) costs £200k
It’s almost exactly a year since the Aston Martin Vanquish arrived as a replacement for the DBS, and now we get it’s convertible sibling – the new Aston Martin Vanquish Volante. Aston are claiming the new Vanquish Volante is the stiffest Aston convertible ever and have also managed to keep the usual weight increase for a soft top down to just 9kg by giving the Volante a full carbon fibre body. The result of that is the Volante manages to produce exactly the same performance figures as the Vanquish Coupe – 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds and 183mph – from its 565php, 6.0 litre V12 and shouldn’t, we hope, shake and shimmy in the way many Aston convertibles do in the process.
5,000 2009 Toyota Prius (pictured) are being recalled
Toyota has had a bit of a nightmare with recalls in recent years, and the news that they’re now having to recall 242,000 Prius models from 2009 worldwide is another financial, and logistical, problem for Toyota. But in truth, the recalls are about car makers now taking responsibility for faults in their cars which become apparent long after warranties have expired, and that’s no bad thing. The Prius models affected are those built between March 2009 and October 2009 (you can check if your car is affected here) and the UK has 4,947 cars on the road that need to be looked at by Toyota’s dealers.
Porsche North America has tapped into its considerable fan base, seeking homegrown visions for its My Daily Magic filmmaking contest. Aspiring directors made 60-second spots for the brand that show his or her interpretation of “everyday magic.” Of those entries, 10 finalists were chosen to make 90-second commercials that will be voted on by the public, as well as by Porsche brass. One film shows a father that has to run some errands on a weekday.
